Starting problem with 2001 Ford Expedition (not Eddie Bauer)?

Most likely either a bad starter solenoid or starter itself....the solenoid is usually mounted on the right (passenger side) inner fenderwell separate from the starter. See if that is what's clicking and test. Check battery cables and the one to starter for corrosion/loose.
