Where is the fuel pump on a 96 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer?

Where is the fuel pump and how do I install a new one? It is a 4 door model and has the option of 4 wheel drive(auto) and 4 wheel drive(low). The only thing I can think of is the fuel pump is out, everything else seems fine and also I do not hear the sound of the fuel pump kicking in when I turn the key. It died right in the middle of the road on me yesterday and would not start and the starter sounds good along with everything else but the fuel pump sound. The fuel pump relay was not triggered.
