Why didn't Jack Bauer ever use sodium pentathol or some other truth agent?

I'm watching 24 online and I've only gotten through the first season. I'm watching the second season and I'm on the episode where Jack is interrogating the bomber. Now, why didn't he just inject him with a truth agent and save a lot of time?
