Is it safe to buy a Maltese?

One day it may be safe to get a Maltese. But right now having a larger breed dog that is only 8 months old makes it too risky. Despite best intentions an 8 month old large breed dog can very easily injure a small Maltese, even just through innocent playing. I would wait until your puppy is much older and then reevaluate the situation.
