Two Piece Hockey Stick! HELP!?

I bought a Bauer 60 shaft from a friend i used it once and it broke. I cut the broken part of about a quarter inch above. I bought a new blade and it doesn't fit... The shaft and the blade both have a .520 taper. What I was thinking was that the shaft where the blade goes in is not tapered anymore, so could i still use the blade and stick? What can i do to get the blade to go in? help please
